Soy Fried “Chicken”

This is a recipe for imitation fried chicken, which I actually prefer over real fried chicken. For this recipe, you need textured vegetable protein which you can buy online or at your local health food store.
Ingredients:
Textured vegetable protein: whatever amount you want!
1/3 cup soy sauce: add warm water to dilute to seawater saltiness
5 cloves garlic: minced
2 tbsp ginger: minced
1/2 cup scallion: roughly chopped
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 cup Panko bread crumbs
1 tbsp dried herb mixture
Pepper and Salt: to taste
Preparation
Place the imitation protein into a bowl. Add a soy sauce-water mixture to cover the soy protein.
Add minced garlic, ginger, and scallion to the bowl and marinate overnight. If you do not want to wait that long, you can let it marinate for an hour and then place it on the stove and let it slowly warm so the scallion/ginger/garlic flavor can seep in. Do not let this come to a boil! Set aside and let set for another 30 minutes or until the soy protein seems marinated to your liking (unlike raw chicken you can actually taste this before cooking).
Mix flour, water, and salt together in a bowl to create a batter for frying. In another bowl to the side, mix your Panko with some salt, pepper, and dried herbs.
Place the marinated soy protein into the batter and then cover with panko.
Fry this until golden brown. Do not let it burn!
Take it out of the oil and serve with your favorite sauce, or simply with lemon juice/ lemon slices.
